Women Hit Law Review Milestone, But Still Far to Go, Lawyers Say

Women still face steep challenges to advance in the legal profession, Hogan Lovells partner Neal Katyal said.

“I wish I could say I’m confident” in the future of women in the legal profession, the noted Supreme Court advocate said on Monday. “But I’m just not.”

Katyal was speaking at a conference in Washington celebrating that the editors-in-chief at flagship law reviews at the top 16 schools are women.

Katyal, for instance, pointed to the dearth of women arguing at the Supreme Court.

It’s just 17% most terms, and even less if you take out government lawyers, Katyal said.
