A 71-year-old woman who was shot five times by a deputy who entered her house at the request of her daughter can keep the $750,000 awarded to her by a jury, the Eleventh Circuit said Sept. 10.
Patricia Emini’s daughter called the Lee County, Fla., sheriff’s office to check up on Ermini. The sheriffs were told Ermini had been drinking, had a gun, and may be suicidal.
