Wisconsin Bell Suit Still Revived, but US Funds Issue Clarified

AT&T subsidiary Wisconsin Bell Inc. failed to convince the full Seventh Circuit to review a decision that reinstated a whistleblower’s suit alleging that the company overcharged schools and libraries for telecommunications and information services.

No judge voted to rehear a three-judge panel’s Aug. 2 decision finding that Wisconsin Bell shouldn’t have won summary judgment in Todd Heath’s False Claims Act suit, the court said in a Tuesday order.

It also issued an amended opinion, “which includes an entirely new discussion of the federal funds issue.”
