Women’s Health Center of West Virginia on Monday voluntarily dismissed a lawsuit challenging a state law that made abortion nearly totally illegal in the state.
West Virginia’s law, enacted in September 2022, prohibits abortions except when the fetus isn’t viable or there is an ectopic pregnancy or medical emergency. It also permits survivors of rape or incest to obtain abortions up to eight weeks, but only if the rape or incest has been reported to law enforcement.
