Walmart Hit With Video Privacy Suit Over Meta Info Sharing (1)

Walmart Inc. shared the video-buying histories of consumers with Meta Platforms Inc. without their knowledge or consent in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act, a proposed federal class action said.

Laurie Brown, Oluwakemi Fosudo, and Abigail Musick alleged that Walmart installed the Meta “pixel” on its website, a snippet of computer code allowing the tech company to obtain consumers’ identities and the titles of videos they purchased.

The lawsuit is the latest in a surge of litigation against providers of video content over their use of tracking tools on their websites.
