Voting Rights Organization Loses Lawsuit Challenging 2020 Census

Citizens for Constitutional Integrity, a nonprofit organization, failed to convince federal judges in Washington that it was in a position to sue the US Census Bureau over congressional apportionment following the 2020 census.

The organization sued under the reduction clause of the 14th Amendment. Under the Reconstruction-era amendment, states with laws that abridge the right to vote, such as through restrictive ID and registration requirements, should’ve had the size of their congressional delegations reduced, the nonprofit argued.
