A Virginia attorney who represented a woman in her divorce has to pay $11,000 in fees and sanctions to the ex-husband, a judge ruled.
Randall Sousa’s “pervasive neglect of his professional duties to his client, coupled with obstructive noncompliance with this Court’s orders compelling discovery and dishonesty at trial” caused his client “to be placed in a position where the award of attorney’s fees against her may seem merited, when the actual cause of her predicament is the conduct of her counsel,” Judge David Bernhard of Fairfax Circuit Court wrote in his opinion letter to the parties.
