Virginia Asks US Supreme Court to Restore Voided Voting Map (1)

Virginia and its Democratic leaders asked the US Supreme Court to reinstate a new voter-approved congressional map that was designed to flip four Republican-held House seats in the November election.

The emergency request Monday follows Friday’s Virginia Supreme Court decision voiding the map as being enacted in violation of the state constitution. The ruling dealt a blow to Democratic hopes of countering Republican redistricting in other states ahead of this year’s midterm elections.
