A violent criminal afraid of Covid-19 running rampant in his prison was exempt from a U.S. Sentencing Commission policy statement requiring a determination that an inmate isn’t a threat to others before considering him for compassionate release, the D.C. Circuit said.
David Long has served 13 years of a 29-year sentence in a federal medical prison for violent crimes, including murder, committed while running a drug operation. He is a double amputee and has other disabling medical conditions.
