Vimeo’s Win in Copyright Infringement Case Affirmed by 2nd Cir.

Vimeo Inc.'s win in a long-running copyright infringement case brought by a group of record companies was upheld by a federal appeals court on Monday.

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act shields Vimeo from copyirght liability over user-uploaded videos, Judge Pierre N. Leval of the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit wrote in a Monday opinion.

The record companies sued Vimeo in 2009, alleging that hundreds of user-uploaded videos that included unlicensed clips of copyrighted music recordings.
