Valve Gets Shot at Game Controller Patent Infringement Retrial

Gaming company Valve Corp. could get a redo of a trial where it was hit with a $4 million verdict over alleged infringement of a video game controller patent held by a rival company.

In February 2021, jurors in Washington found Bellevue-based Valve willfully infringed Ironburg Inventions Ltd.’s US Patent No. 8,641,525, awarding $4.02 million in damages. Ironburg holds the intellectual property of controller maker SCUF Gaming International LLC, which in turn is owned by CORSAIR Gaming Inc.
