Va. Lawyer Who Pursued Litigation Without Client OK Disbarred

A Virginia lawyer found to have turned down two settlement offers on behalf of a client without telling the client about them agreed to have his license revoked.

Ernest Paul Francis will be disbarred on March 23, the Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board’s Jan 12 order said.

The discipline arose from a Fair Debt Collections Practices Act suit that Francis filed on behalf of a client in 2015 relating to efforts to collect credit card debt.
