Utah Solicitor General Accused of Misrepresentation by Judge (1)

A federal judge says Utah’s new Solicitor General made a “material misrepresentation” in a federal case in Florida earlier this year, and has ordered her to show cause why she shouldn’t be sanctioned.

Melissa Holyoak made a “material misrepresentation to the parties and this Court” regarding the terms of a class-action settlement, Judge William Matthewman of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida wrote Sept. 1.

The plaintiffs in the case allege that defendant National Tire & Battery failed to provide them with registration papers when they bought new tires as required by law.
