U.S. Supreme Court Closed for Bush National Day of Mourning

The U.S. Supreme Court will be closed Dec. 5 for the National Day of Mourning for former President George H.W. Bush.

The court was to hear its last argument of the year, Gamble v. United States, on that day. It’s been rescheduled for Dec. 6 at 10 a.m.

The high court almost never closes when business is scheduled. It remained open during the 16-day federal government shutdown in 2013.

But the building was ordered closed in 2007 following the death of former President Gerald R. Ford.
