US Magistrate Judge Cut Due to Alleged ‘Hostile’ Work Behavior

A US magistrate judge in New Mexico wasn’t reappointed to a new eight-year term due to complaints of abusive workplace behavior that included unpredictable outbursts, manipulation, and threats of termination, according to a court order.

A council of Tenth Circuit appellate and district court judges issued a public order about Carmen E. Garza’s alleged workplace misconduct even though the US District Court in New Mexico had already voted against reappointing the magistrate judge who had served there from 2006 to August 2022 and her term had already expired.
