A University of South Florida doctoral student saw all but one of his discrimination claims against the school dismissed by a federal court.
Bobby Shed, who described himself as “a Black, American, gay, male with disabilities,” started his Ph.D. program in 2017 and was provided funding through the school, including grants and a graduate assistant position.
In 2018, Shed filed a complaint with the university, claiming he was discriminated against because of his race. In 2019, he complained about the USF police’s treatment of Black people, and in 2020, he filed a whistleblower report.
