University of California Dodges Blame for Camera Hidden in Loo

The University of California isn’t liable for the actions of a former employee who installed a hidden camera in a public restroom to spy on people, a state appellate court said Tuesday.

Kian Lam resigned from his position as an administrative assistant at the University of California San Francisco’s Sleep Disorders Center after admitting to placing a pen camera in the tampon dispenser of the office’s unisex bathroom. Lam said he put the camera there to obtain photos of another employee in the office.
