U.S. Supreme Court Declines Safe-Injection Site Appeal Review

The Supreme Court declined to hear an appeal over a proposed Philadelphia overdose-prevention site, leaving in place a ruling against the program that 80 current and former prosecutors and law enforcement leaders said would help fight the opioid epidemic.

“Failing to address the loss of life resulting from drug overdoses—and criminalizing a community-based public health organization working to save lives—will further erode trust in the justice system,” the prosecutors and leaders said in an amicus brief.
