The U.S. House of Representatives and former national security officials have renewed their support for a lawsuit challenging President Donald Trump’s decision to use DOD appropriations to fund a wall on the southern border.
The president overstepped his constitutional authority when he redirected $3.6 billion of previously appropriated federal funds from the programs and departments within the Department of Defense, the House said in an Oct. 22 brief. Congress has the exclusive power over how to spend taxpayer dollars, the House said.
