The Eighth Circuit said Friday that two St. Louis County police officers weren’t entitled to qualified immunity after they allegedly bumped into a suspect’s car on purpose during a pursuit then failed to render aid when he crashed into a tree and died.
Mikel Neil died at the scene after the accident, after a reported red light violation which had resulted in him being pursued by the two officers. While an eyewitness called 911 within 30 seconds of the accident, the officers didn’t render aid or call for medical assistance, Neil’s mother said.
