Trump’s Louisiana Judicial Picks Get Little Democratic Pushback

President Donald Trump’s nominees for federal judgeships in Louisiana glided through their Senate confirmation hearing.

William Crain, a Louisiana Supreme Court justice, and Alexander Van Hook, who briefly served as an interim US attorney in the state this year, received limited scrutiny from Democrats on Wednesday.

They’ve largely dismissed Trump’s judicial nominees this term as unqualified and selected only for their fealty to a president who has lashed out at judges who rule against him. Though, several have more recently supported a handful of nominees to the displeasure of progressive groups that want blanket opposition.
