Trump Tightens Control Over Agency HR Chiefs, Politicizing Roles

President Donald Trump’s administration is moving to reclassify top federal agency human resource jobs as political roles, reversing a longstanding policy for personnel chiefs to be career government officials.

The move by the Office of Personnel Management would allow the White House to fill those jobs with individuals whose political views align with the administration. It’s also part of a broader shift to bring in more political appointees to positions that have long been held by career officials.
