Federal appeals court nominee Andrew S. Oldham attempted to distinguish past advocacy positions from his own convictions at a Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing April 25.
Past comments criticizing the U.S. Supreme Court and federal agencies were merely statements made on behalf of a client—the Governor of Texas, Oldham said.
President Donald Trump nominated Oldham, who is 39 years old and currently serves as general counsel to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R), to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in February.
