Trump Nominee Katsas Confirmed Despite GOP Senator’s ‘No’ Vote

The Senate voted to confirm Deputy White House Counsel and former Jones Day attorney Gregory Katsas to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit by a 50-48 vote Nov. 28.

He was confirmed despite opposition from Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), who became the first Republican to vote against one of Trump’s judicial nominees. Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) also crossed party lines, casting a vote to confirm Kastas.

Katsas is the ninth federal appellate court nominee to be confirmed under President Donald Trump, who campaigned with a promise of appointing conservative judges to the bench.
