Trump Must Pay $2 Million for Spending Charity Money on Politics

President Donald Trump was ordered by a New York judge to pay $2 million in restitution for spending money from his charitable foundation for political purposes.

The decision was handed down Thursday by New York State Supreme Court Justice Saliann Scarpulla, who declined a state request in a lawsuit for Trump to pay more than $5 million in damages, in addition to restititution.

“Mr. Trump has stipulated to a number of proactive conditions so that the conduct which engendered this petition should not occur in the future,” the judge said. “For this reason, I decline to award penalty damages.”
