President Donald Trump’s pick for a federal judgeship in Alabama won a broad margin of bipartisan support in a procedural Senate floor vote to advance his nomination.
Eleven Senate Democrats and Maine Independent Angus King, who caucuses with Democrats, joined Republicans to invoke cloture, or end debate, on Harold Mooty III’s nomination to the US District Court for the Northern District of Alabama.
It’s the first time any Trump judicial pick has gotten backing from a significant portion of the Democratic caucus on the Senate floor.
