Trump Flips Trial Court Seats With Texas, Arkansas Confirmations

The Senate confirmed judicial nominees for district courts in Arkansas and Texas, flipping seats held by Democratic appointees.

John Shepherd and Chris Wolfe were confirmed 53-46 and 53-47, respectively, along party lines on Tuesday by the Republican-led chamber.

The two state-court judges elevated by President Donald Trump were only the second and third judicial confirmations in more than two months as the process slowed largely due to a lack of nominees.
