Trump-FBI Uproar Prompts Condemnation of Threats Against Judges

The federal judiciary is condemning threats against judges as the US magistrate judge who signed off on a search warrant for former President Donald Trump’s Florida estate is reportedly the target of online abuse.

“Although I can’t speak to any specific situations, I can say that threats against judges fulfilling their constitutional responsibilities strike at the very core of our democracy,” Second Circuit Judge Richard J. Sullivan, who chairs the Judicial Conference Committee on Judicial Security, said in a statement Thursday. “Judges should not have to fear retaliation for doing their jobs.”
