Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a trailblazing figure for women in the law and a cultural phenomenon dubbed “Notorious RBG,” marked her 25th anniversary on the U.S. Supreme Court Oct. 1.
Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. paid tribute to the court’s second woman justice before the first oral arguments of the 2018 term.
“We all look forward to sharing many more years with you in our common calling,” Roberts said.
Ginsburg, 85, was a success academically, tying for first in her graduating class at Columbia Law School. But she had difficulty getting a job because she was a woman.
