Judge Roslynn “Roz” Mauskopf, the director of the US judiciary’s administrative office, is retiring, Chief Justice John Roberts announced Monday.
Mauskopf has been the federal judiciary’s top administrative official since 2021, the first woman to serve in that job. She took over the role as federal courts grappled with remote proceedings and other issues presented by the pandemic.
The judiciary didn’t give a specific reason for Mauskopf’s departure. A new director will be selected and announced “at a future date,” the statement said.
