Threats Against US Judge Brnovich Prompt Indictment in Arizona

A man was indicted for allegedly threatening to kill US District Judge Susan Brnovich for how she handled his civil lawsuit seeking a $100,000 policy payment from GEICO following an auto accident.

Casey James Purington allegedly threatened to hang the judge “outside her building,” in a call to the Arizona Commission on Judicial conduct and said he would “hit her knees with a baseball bat,” in a call to Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego’s office, according to a criminal complaint filed March 14 in the US District Court for the District of Arizona.
