Third Circuit Adopts Early Filing Deadline Despite Dissent (1)

The US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit is going ahead with plans to shift its filing deadline from midnight to 5 p.m.

In a final order Tuesday, the Third Circuit changed the filing deadline to 5 p.m. effective July 1 with a grace period for papers mistakenly filed later until the end of the year.

The new deadline will apply to documents filed after the initiation of a proceeding in the court, but not to documents initiating an appeal or other proceedings, according to the public notice.
