Texas, Mississippi Support Abortion Law on Admitting Privileges

Texas and Mississippi are siding with Louisiana in a case urging the Fifth Circuit to revive a law that requires doctors who perform abortions to have admitting privileges at local hospitals in the state.

The case in the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit grew out of Louisiana’s unsuccessful attempt to convince a federal trial court to vacate a permanent injunction blocking the state from enforcing its abortion restriction. Louisiana argued that the precedent underlying the injunction is no longer good law.
