Llano County, Texas, library patrons say certain books were impermissibly pulled because officials disapproved of their viewpoint or content, and urged a federal judge to order them returned to circulation while their First Amendment challenge moves ahead.
Many of the pulled books adopt favorable views of the LGBTQ community or advance the position that systemic racial disparities exist in the US, the patrons said. The titles include “Caste: The Origins of Our Discontent,” and “Being Jazz: My Life as a (Transgender) Teen.”
