Texas Justices Doubt City’s Reading of Whistleblower Act (1)

The Texas Supreme Court on Tuesday challenged the City of Fort Worth’s claim that the Texas Whistleblower Act only applies if a public employee made a good faith report of an act that was previously unknown to the supervising authorities.

Justice Debra Lehrmann questioned city attorney Kelly Albin during oral argument on the application of the act if the report was ordered by the city’s chief of police, and also asked if internal information gathered during an investigation is subject to the statute.
