Tennessee may require women to wait 48 hours after receiving information about abortion to have the procedure performed, at least while an appeal of an order blocking enforcement of the restriction proceeds, a federal appeals court said.
The state initially lost a request to halt a lower court order blocking the waiting period restriction from taking effect during the appeal, but the full U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit vacated the earlier decision in a one-page order.
The en banc court didn’t give any reasons for entering the stay.
