Syracuse Must Face Trimmed Suit Over Sex Assault Investigation

A former Syracuse University student can move forward with part of his lawsuit alleging sex-based discrimination over his expulsion following the alleged sexual assault of a female student.

The US District Court for the Northern District of New York on Wednesday granted in part the university’s motion for dismissal.

Syracuse investigated after Jane Roe alleged she was sexually assaulted by Doe at a fraternity party. Doe filed a counter-claim saying Roe had sexually assaulted him. The university ultimately expelled Doe, while Roe didn’t face any sanctions.
