An Iowa lawyer who signed a client’s name to court filings without discussing the case with him was suspended indefinitely by the state’s highest court.
Given the nature of Lori Jo Kieffer-Garrison’s violations “and the number of aggravating factors in this case, the public in general and the legal profession in particular will be best served through a lengthy suspension,” the Iowa Supreme Court said Nov. 13.
The Davenport, Iowa, lawyer had been appointed to represent a convicted felon who had been charged with possession of a firearm, the court said.
