Former Washington federal appeals court judge David Tatel sharply criticized the US Supreme Court in his new memoir for losing the public’s trust through rulings on voting rights, abortion, and affirmative action.
The Supreme Court “has veered off course,” Tatel wrote in his forthcoming book in a rare rebuke of the high court from an ex-member of the judiciary.
The erosion of public trust in the high court “is undeniable” and “cause for serious concern,” said Tatel, who spent nearly 30 years on the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
