The US Supreme Court tossed out a hotel’s fight against a lawsuit brought by a so-called disability rights “tester” who never planned to actually book a room.
In a 9-0 decision Tuesday, the court said the case against Acheson Hotels is now moot.
Deborah Laufer sued the hotel in September 2020 for failing to put information online about whether its rooms at the Coast Village Inn and Cottages are accessible for people with disabilities. Because Laufer never planned to actually stay at the hotel, the government argued she could not sue the hotel.
