Supreme Court to Hear Transgender Rights Dispute in December (1)

The US Supreme Court will hear a fight over transgender rights that involves medical treatments for minors after the presidential election.

Arguments over a Tennessee law that prohibits doctors from prescribing hormones and puberty blockers to treat gender dysphoria in adolescents will be held Dec. 4, the court said on Friday.

The law, enacted in 2023, was first challenged by three transgender minors, their parents, and a doctor. They argued the law violates the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment because it discriminates against minors based on their sex.
