Supreme Court Schedules Arguments on Fed’s Lisa Cook for Jan. 21

The US Supreme Court scheduled arguments for Jan. 21 on President Donald Trump’s effort to fire Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook in a pivotal clash over the central bank’s independence.

The economist has remained on the job since late August, when Trump said he would remove her over mortgage fraud allegations that she’s denied. The Supreme Court is considering whether Trump can oust Cook while the legal fight moves forward.
