The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday announced that it’s relaxing certain filing deadlines for new appeals “in light of the ongoing public health concerns relating to Covid-19.”
Showing that the global pandemic continues to affect even the nation’s highest court, the measure extends deadlines on filing petitions for high court review from lower court judgments to 150 days. It was 90 days previously.
Thursday’s order, which doesn’t apply to appeals that have already been granted certiorari, also relaxes court practices on certain time extension requests.
