Supreme Court Rejects Conversion Therapy Case

The U.S. Supreme Court declined today to hear a case challenging a California law prohibiting efforts to change a minor’s sexual orientation from gay to straight through a practice known as “conversion therapy” (Welch v. Brown, U.S., 16-845, review denied 5/1/17).

It’s the second time the justices have declined to review a case involving minors and sexual orientation change efforts. The first involved a petition over New Jersey’s ban last year. In all, seven states and numerous cities prohibit the practice for minors.
