Supreme Court Reinstates Arkansas Gerrymandering Challenge

The US Supreme Court reinstated a lawsuit challenging a newly drawn Arkansas congressional district encompassing Little Rock and its suburbs that plaintiffs say unconstitutionally diluted Black votes.

The justices on Monday send the matter back to the federal trial court for a new look.

On May 23 in Alexander v. SC Conference of NAACP, the court said legislatures are presumed to act with good faith when drawing district lines and set high barriers for establishing racial gerrymandering claims.
