Supreme Court, Other D.C. Courts Close Ahead of Inauguration

The Supreme Court and other federal courts in Washington are closing their doors to in-person business until after the presidential inauguration due to security concerns prompted by the Capitol riot.

The District of Columbia is implementing unprecedented security measures ahead of Joe Biden’s Jan. 20 swearing-in due to continuing threats of violence, and courts are following suit.

The Supreme Court announced it won’t accept in-person paper filings from Jan. 15 to 20. Filings due those days should be submitted via mail, the court said.
