Supreme Court Tries to Avoid ‘Raw Deal’ on Veterans Benefits (1)

The US Supreme Court appeared ready to side with veterans seeking to use their GI benefits, noting that a contrary ruling would punish those who choose to serve more than one period of service.

The case heard Wednesday deals with the interplay between two different educational benefit programs—the Montgomery GI Bill for those who served from 1985 to 2030, and the more generous Post-9/11 GI Bill for those who served after the 2001 terrorist attack. More specifically, the case focuses on those veterans that served more than one period of service.
