The US Supreme Court keeps bolstering Republicans, even as the justices insist they don’t play politics.

The latest move came Tuesday night, when the court said Alabama could eliminate a majority-Black congressional district and in all likelihood flip a US House seat to Republicans as they vie to keep control of Congress in the November midterms.

The four-page ruling, which drew a blistering dissent, expanded what was already a blockbuster April 29 decision rolling back use of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, which protects minority voters.
