High Court Justice Temporarily Blocks Jan. 6 Panel Subpoena (1)

US Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan temporarily blocked a subpoena issued by the Jan. 6 congressional committee for phone and text records from Kelli Ward, the chair of the Arizona Republican Party.

Kagan’s interim order puts the matter on hold while the court considers Ward’s request for a longer-term delay in her clash with the House panel investigating last year’s Capitol riot. Ward contends the subpoena to T-Mobile USA Inc. violates her First Amendment rights to political association.
