Cop Who Left Before Landlord Shot Tenants Must Face Lawsuit

The state-created danger claim against a Maine police officer who answered a call about threats a landlord made to his tenants and then left the scene just minutes before the landlord shot the three tenants was revived by the First Circuit.

The district court dismissed the claim against Officer Edward Dexter of the City of Biddeford Police Department, saying that he didn’t greatly increase the danger faced by the tenants.
